Why
A Building Committee?
Pastors
need not to take on the awesome responsibility of going into a
building program without support. Although the role of the
clergy varies in each project, depending on the respective
energies, strengths and ministerial goals, there’s just too
much going on for one person to oversee. Generally speaking,
the building committee’s job is to relieve the pastor of
unending detail, assist in making important decisions along
the way and oversee the actual construction of the church.
From a public relations standpoint, the
building committee serves as a mouthpiece for the whole
church. As representatives of the membership, the building
committee should make each person in the congregation feel
comfortable in the fact that qualified people are on the
decision making team. It all boils down to taking the load off
the pastor and the people of the church. After all, how many
people really want to assume the responsibility of building?
Ti takes dedication, hard work and long hours. No one said
God’s work would be easy. But praise the Lord there are
people in the church ready, willing and able to serve with you
as you build.
